1888 (Feb 8), combination cover from Peking to Port Jefferson, NY, franked on reverse by 3ca Small Dragon tied by black Tientsin seal and matching "Customs FE 9 88 Tientsin" c.d.s. as well as a tremendous strike of "I.G. of Customs 8 FEB 88 Peking" in black origin c.d.s. and "Customs FEB 21 88 Shanghai" transit, San Francisco, red Mar 17 Paid All transit and violet Port Jefferson Mar 24 1888 oval receiver. Front bears Japanese 5s Koban, tied by pinwheel cancel, with "Shanghai 25 FEB 1888 I.J.P.A." and "Yokohama 3 MAR 1888 Japan" transits. Magnificent quality, Very Fine, a spectacular and rare cover.

Front bears 5s Japanese Koban added for transition fees, along with bold strikes of "Shanghai 30 DEC 1888 I.J.P.A." and "Yokohama 5 JAN 1889 Post" transit. The cover is in immaculate condition, Very Fine, an amazing showpiece!

1898 (Jan 15), remarkable and exceedingly rare cover from Tong-Shan to Mt. Vernon, NY, franked on front by 2¢ pair and 10¢ ICP definitives, all tied by an incredible strike of the "Tong-Shan Jan 15 1898 Post Office" non-standard dater with additional strike of Tientsin 24 Jan 98 large dollar chop and matching pakua cancel in brown. Reverse shows two additional Tientsin dollar chops, also in brown, dated 15 and 18 Jan respectively, along with black Shanghai large dollar chop dated 6 FEB, along with San Francisco FEB 28 transit and Mt. Vernon, NY Mar receiver. The cover was sent "by steamer" with a 10s Japanese Koban added and cancelled "Shanghai 4 FEB 98 I.J.P.O." with additional Yokohama FEB 14 transit. A superb cover in all respects, Very Fine and choice, a cornerstone exhibition piece.

1898 (Aug 5), extraordinary forwarded combination cover fromTong-Shan to Mt. Vernon, NY, "via Japan" carrying on reverse a 10c I.C.P. Coiling Dragon, which is cancelled by the Rare, non-standard, "Tong-Shan AUG 5 1898 Post Office" dater, with an additional strike struck on the front. Reverse additionally shows a Tientsin 6 AUG 98 and Shanghai 11 AUG 98 large dollar transits, a San Francisco SEP 8 1898 Paid All transit and Mt. Vernon SEP 13 1898 receiver. Front bears an additional 10s Japanese Koban added for transmission, tied by neat "Shanghai 12 AUG 98 I.J.P.O." c.d.s., along with black "Forwarded" straightline handstamp and Port Jefferson SEP 14 receiver and finally the Port Jefferson final destination receiver dated SEP 14. A remarkable, exceedingly well-traveled, well marked cover in exceptional condition, Very Fine, a showpiece!

Reverse additionally shows Tientsin 18 AUG and Shanghai 21 AUG large dollar chop transits, Yokohama 1 SEP transit and Mt. Vernon SEP 26 receiver. Exceptional quality, Very Fine and choice.

1899 (May 5), I.P.O. picture postcard usage from Chefoo to Barnes, England, a splendid card franked by two 2¢ Coiling Dragons, each tied by remarkably choice strikes of "Chefoo/5 MAY 99" large dollar chops. Pair of 2¢ Hong Kong Victorias added, each tied by Shanghai MY 8 99 c.d.s.'s, along with nice strikes of the Chefoo I.P.O. tieprint chops. Fresh, Very Fine, rare, one of only a handful of Chefoo dollar chops known used with I.P.O. tieprints and additionally, believed to be the latest known usage of the Chefoo large dollar chop.

1899 (Oct 5), short paid illustrated 1¢ on 3¢ Red Revenue cover from Shanghai to Ningpo, carrying 1¢ Red Revenue issue tied by Pakua killer with matching "Shanghai C OC 5 99 Local Post" c.d.s. Front shows large black "T" handstamp, with Ningpo OCT _ 99" bilingual receiver. Illustration on front depicts a large flying crane and a bright, red sun. Fresh, with great visual appeal, Very Fine, a rare example of a postage due Red Revenue cover.

Cover noted "printed matter" an exceptional quality example of a pre-UPU printed matter rate wrapper usage, Very Fine.

1900 (June 14), China Gazette Weekly used from Hankow to Baden, Switzerland, large part top portion of the June 4, 1900 edition, franked by 2¢ Coiling Dragon vertical strip of 3, tied by bold Hankow origin c.d.s.'s, paper travelled through the French Post Office at Shanghai, where a 15c general issue French P.O. stamp was affixed and cancelled on 18 June. Front additionally shows a Shanghai bilingual 18 June transit as well, colorful, fresh and attractive, Fine to Very Fine, scarce usage.

1906 (Feb 16), handsome incoming First Issue Postage Due cover from Stolden, Switzerland to Jia-ding County, Szechwan, "via Brindisi" addressed to the American Baptist Mission, franked by 5c Swiss definitive, inadequate for postage, with an exceptional, interpanneau pair of the 1c Coiling Dragon postage due affixed tied by 2 strikes of reverse, imaged grid, with an indistinct 3.25.06 Bao-Ji c.d.s. in center of cover. Front shows black "T" handstamp alongside, sent on to Shanghai on 3.25 with "Returned Letter Office 30 May 06 China" boxed handstamp on reverse, then received at Jia-ding county on 4.6.06, Very Fine and choice, a splendid and rare combo.
