Japan, 1874 (Feb.), cover sent from Tokyo to Boston, MA, franked with 1874 Cherry Blossoms on foreign wove (1s syll. 11 and 2s syl. 15 (7); J.S.C.A. 29-30. Scott 33-34), each cancelled by cork on reverse of "Mombusho, Tokio, Nippon" corner card envelope to Boston, via Yokohama (Feb. 26) and San Francisco (May 25), with native origin c.d.s., "1" in circle and red "Paid All" handstamp alongside; cover vertically torn through (affecting one stamp) and glued back, one other stamp is also defective, nevertheless a spectacular foreign mail franking, Fine to Very Fine.
