Suggested Bid $50

These labels were used to publicize the 1923 London International Stamp Exhibition. The design was the result of a competition organized by the Junior (now National) Philatelic Society in which members were asked to design an Airmail stamp for Great Britain. The winning design was submitted by J. Bickerton Sifton and the labels were produced by De La Rue in the then-current colors of the of the ½d-3d King George V definitives.

Of the six colors, at least 10 variations exist for each, including watermark and perforation varieties (e.g. the scarlet & red brown examples offered here have a multiple plane watermark, while the rest are watermarked with a single plane). Additional colors are known to have been printed for presentation purposes.
