1847, 5¢ red brown (Scott 1), clear to large margins, tied by manuscript cancel with blue Saratoga Springs N.Y. circular datestamp, Nov 13, 1848 on envelope to Montreal Canada, manuscript "4½" (pence due), backstamped red Montreal L.C. split-ring datestamp on reverse; date in postmark (year added) and manuscript cancel have been enhanced, apparently contemporaneously; light wax seal stain in center, F.-V.F., most unusual.
