Lot 93

1912-13, L.Z. 11, Viktoria Luise, L.Z. 13, Hansa & L.Z. 14 (Z. I), small group comprising Viktoria Luise, two Special 5pf + 50pf cards, canceled Frankfurt & Wiesbaden, a DELAG card with a Jul 18, 1913 Viktoria Luise favor cancel, a picture postcard of Viktoria Luise over a crowded field. The message, dated Jul 9, 1912 states that "yesterday the Zeppelin landed twice in Lübeck…", it is canceled Lubeck, Jul 10; also three photos; 2.) a 5pf Germania tied on piece by a Viktoria Luise oval, Aug 11, 1913; Hansa, an unused souvenir postcard of the Hansa with onboard favor cancel, Jul 29, 1914, and three used picture postcards of the Hansa, 1912-15, two being real photos, the other a full color card by artist H.R. Schulz. Also includes an unused picture postcard of the L.Z. 14 on takeoff.

1912, L.Z. 10, Schwaben Rhine Main Flights, 17 flown cards with special stamps (Mi I-IV), nearly all different cities/dates; comprises 10pf (9), 20pf (4), 30pf (one with 3 stamps, as usual), and im "Gelber Hund" (3); six cards are mounted on colorful, professionally handmade pages (text in Dutch).

1912, L.Z. 11, Viktoria Luise (Michel 11 G a, d), two special 5pf + 50pf cards carried on the October Frankfurt-Wiesbaden-Frankfurt flights, canceled Frankfurt (Oct 16) and Wiesbaden (Oct 20); also an unused DELAG Zeppelin view card with a favor cancel of the Viktoria Luise oval handstamp dated Jul 18, 1913. All are on colorful, professionally handmade album pages (text in Dutch).

1913, L.Z. 16 (Z. IV), "Incident at Lunéville, France", group of six French picture postcards featuring the L.Z. 16 (Army Airship Z. IV) when it was forced to land near French Army troop maneuvers near Lunéville on Apr 1, 1913; the Airship was on her way from Friedrichshafen to Bad Oos during trials, when she lost her way in heavy weather. The forced landing nearly caused an international incident.
