French Offices in China, 1895 (Aug. 18), registered cover from Shanghai to Samos, Turkey, splendid, clean cover, bearing a pair of 25c French Offices "CHINE" overprints, tied by two of three strikes "Shang-Haï/16 AOÛT/95/Chine" origin c.d.s.'s, with front additionally showing red boxed "R" handstamp and matching French paquet No. handstamp; cover delivered by French paquet to Port-Said on 15 SEPT, then onto Beyrouth, Syrie, on 20 SEPT and Smyrne, Turquie d'Asie on 15 October, Very Fine, a lovely, well-marked cover.

French Offices in China, 1897 (Jan. 8), registered cover from Shanghai to Samos, Turkey, superb, well-traveled cover, franked on front by pair of 25c French Offices "CHINE" overprints, tied by two of three strikes of "Shang-Haï/8 JANV/97/Chine" origin c.d.s.'s, with front noting red boxed "R" and "Ligne N./23 JANV 97/PAQ Fr. No. 2" paquet marking; reverse shows Hong Kong JA 12, Tonquin, Hai Phong 16 JANV, Port Said FEVR 14, Alexandrie FEVR 18, Smyrne 22 FEVR transits, plus blue "Vathy/24 FEVR 97/Samos" receiver; cover neatly opened for display, Very Fine and choice, an amazing, well-marked cover.

French Offices in China, 1897 (Apr. 9), registered cover from Shanghai to the Imperial Maritime Customs at Canton, franked by a 50c French Offices "CHINE" overprint, paying the single-rate Registered letter charge, tied by one of two strikes of "Shang-Haï/9 AVRIL/97/Chine" origin c.d.s.'s, with red boxed "R" on front along with black "Registered" straightline handstamp; cover was carried by French mail but delivered to the British post office at Canton on 13 April 1897 (backstamp), fresh, Very Fine, a lovely cover.

French Offices in China, 1903 (Oct. 14), Locally used at Tientsin Postage Due picture post card, lovely card addressed "care of German Post Office present", with small "T" in triangle and matching German "Tientsin/14.10.03/Deutsche Post" same-day arrival c.d.s.; card is franked by two very scarce French Offices in China 10¢ rose "Rights of Man" issues, overprinted in red with "A PERCEVOIR" postage due handstamp overprints (Scott #J15), fresh, Very Fine, a lovely card and scarce usage.

No. 1 and bilingual Peking May 16, 1901, arrival markings, Very Fine, nice usage.

Japanese Offices in China, Commemorative cancels, useful and very unusual selection of 35 cards, nearly all showing stamp tied to unaddressed card by various I.J.P.O. commemorative cancels; we note a wide variety of cities represented, including Amoy, Shanghai, Hankow, Canton, Soochow, Changsha, Shansi, etc. Condition varies on a few, but largely Fine to Very Fine, nice specialist group; examine.

Japanese Offices in China, 1919 (Dec. 22), partial crash cover from Dairen to Schenectady, NY, showing violet, 3-line handstamp, "Damaged by fire/in mail car/Columbus, Wis./1-17-20"; although hard to read, the postal marking on the stamp is that of Darien, IJP(?) dated 22 December (1919) and there is a "Saint Paul Minn" transit marking on the reverse dated 1 February 1920, Fine to Very Fine, a rare usage from Manchuria.

Russian Offices in China, 1901 (Sept. 1), Grünberg & Reilly cover, mailed Chefoo to Kennett Square, PA, attractive Registered cover, franked by Russian Offices 1k (Scott #1, two pairs) along with a pair of 3k (#3), all tied by Chefoo 1 Sept origin c.d.s.'s; reverse shows bilingual Chefoo, bilingual 4 Sept Shanghai and Victoria SP 13 transits, plus Kennett Square Oct 19 receiver; minor tear at right, otherwise Very Fine, a wonderful cover from the world-famous agent Reilly, "King of Spies".

Russian Offices in China, 1903 (July 19), registered cover sent Shanghai to the Isle of Wight, England, sent "via Siberia", a spectacular neat registered cover franked by a pair of Russian Offices in China overprinted issues tied by origin c.d.s.'s; front shows bold violet "R/Shanghai/No 0929 [stamped]" handstamp, along with red London Registered 10 Aug 03 handstamp; reverse notes a red London 11 AU 03 handstamp, a Registered 10 AU 03 Northampton handstamp along with same-day Northampton receiver, plus a Russian Shanghai registry label, which is tied by the Shanklin Au 11 03 receiver, Very Fine, simply a beautiful cover and rare destination.
