Japan, 1937 (Nov. 23), Printed Matter cover sent from Kobe to the US, addressed to Aberdeen, So. Dak., and franked by ½s and 2s First Showa definitives plus a 1½s Diet commemorative, paying the current Printed Matter rate; stamps tied by foreign combs to "Atsuro Tanida./The Daimaru,/Kobe, Japan" corner card envelope, with bilingual "Printed Matter" handstamp in blue; sent unsealed as per regulations; original enclosure a pre-printed letter from Mr. Tanida to exchange stamps, Very Fine, a pretty cover.

Japan, 1937, 1st Showa Series, 4s dark green, strip of five on cover from Whachinpo, Korea, to the US (Scott 261), a wonderful cover to Dallas, franked by vertical strip of five tied by four 15.8.20 (Aug. 20, 1940) domestic Japanese comb daters; envelope and enclosed correspondence imprinted "Mrs. Wesley M. Smith/Changchow, Kiangsu/China"; two-page letter describes her trip to Korea; inconsequential opening damage to backflap mentioned for accuracy, Very Fine, an interesting Korea usage not often seen—and by an American missionary based in China.
