France, 1849 (Mar. 31), Folded letter from Lyon to St. Etienne, franked by a four-margined 20c black on yellowish Cérès (#3; margin at bottom right close but just clear of frameline), the stamp tied by two exquisite grill cancel strikes; double-ring Lyon (68) postmark (Type 15) at right; same-day St. Etienne receiver on reverse; small spot of ink burn in address of no consequence, Very Fine, a really lovely cover, with 2016 Roumet Scheiff Pagnoux certificate.

France, 1863 (June 11 or 14), Cover from Royal Palace at Fontainebleu to Paris, a personal communication to a Monsieur Parent in Place Vendôme, with red June 1863 "Bau du Palais de Fontainebleu" c.d.s. at upper right and, at left, a two-line "Maison de l'Empereur./(Service de la Maison Militaire)" handstamp in blue; reverse with double-ring "Service d'Exploitation/S.O." same-day dater; seal torn from back, with resultant paper loss; small handstamp (owner or expertiser) at lower left, Very Fine, and a lovely cover, a rare marking, with 2015 Roumet Sceiff Pagnoux certificate.

The lack of a corner printing date is the most obvious difference between this and a genuine booklet pane sheet., with a 2018 Calves & Jacquart certificate mistakenly listing the Y&T number as 283s.
