Thailand, 1992, Bangkok '93 World Stamp Expo, proposed Butterfly designs (Scott 1473E/1477aE), original artwork for five stamps and a souvenir sheet, each depicting a colorful butterfly and an old Thai postage stamp (or, on the souvenir sheet, a postal card); comprises stamp-size gouache paintings of five different 1k stamps and a 10k souvenir sheet, plus separate, larger paintings of each of the 1k butterflies (about 125x80mm), and paintings of two of the old stamps; four of the seven larger paintings with partial inscriptions added; a marvelous, beautifully executed collection of artwork for these proposed, but unaccepted designs for the Exposition, for which Thailand actually issued several different sets.
