1847, 5¢ dark brown (Scott 1a), extraordinary example neatly tied on 1848 folded letter sheet to Boston; red grid with adjacent "New York, Aug. 31" c.d.s.; the stamp is a large margined GEM with especially intense color, Extremely Fine to Superb, with 2014 Weiss certificate grading the stamp XF-SUP 95J.

1847, 5¢ orange brown (Scott 1b), handsome four-margined example on cover to Aurora, N.Y., with blue grid cancel and matching adjacent "Skaneateles, N.Y., Feb. 24" c.d.s., Very Fine appearance, only 7 examples of this cover are known from Skaneateles in the Alexander census, ex-Kapiloff, with 2018 P.F. certificate states "manuscript cancel removed (its actually visible) stamp with tiny internal tear, the cover with staining removed" overall harsh and much nicer than the certificate indicates.

York City/Direct to/Chatham Square Post Office" oval, legal note, Fine to Very Fine, with 2017 P.F. certificate.
