1869, 30¢ ultramarine & carmine, flags inverted (Scott 121b), neat quartered cork cancel, exceptionally strong colors for this issue, with intense carmine and ultramarine on contrasting bright white paper; short corner perforation at upper left, completely sound in every other respect, Very Fine to Extremely Fine and rare, with only about 40 known examples, three of which are sound, this places nicely as one of the top examples from this historic rarity—by far the rarest of the 1869 inverts, ex- Lafayette, with "fault-free" 1991 P.F. certificate.
