Lot 4117

1861, 5¢ brown yellow (Scott 67a), a fresh, Very Fine single used with a 10¢ green (68), both tied by a Middletown, Ill. c.d.s. on an 1861 cover to France with red "New Paid York/6" exchange office c.d.s., boxed "P.D.", French entry c.d.s. and three different French backstamps; small repair at the upper left, spindle hole at the lower left and most of top flap missing, but still quite attractive and very scarce, with 2016 P.S.A.G. and 2015 P.F. certificates, the latter calling the 5¢ a normal buff—however, we strongly agree with the P.S.A.G. opinion.
Scott $1,350.
Estimate $350 - 500.

Realized $325
