Lot 5053

[New Jersey] N.Y. & SEA PLAIN, AGT. (Towle Unlisted), somewhat blurry Sep 13 (1877) c.d.s. ties a 3¢ green (158) on a Spring Lake, N.J. corner card cover to Philadelphia. A rare, previously unrecorded station agent's marking, .
Suggested Bid $40

The history of Sea Plain is a bit unclear. It seems to have become part of Lake Como then Spring Lake. The train station there was apparently abandoned in favor of the one at Spring Lake Beach.
