STOCKHOLMIA 2019 Private Treaty Sale

Lot 23

China (People's Republic), 1968, "The Whole Country is Red" (W14) (Scott 999A). Over the decades, we have had the privilege of selling or inspecting many examples of this iconic, world-famous issue. That being said, considering overall quality and condition, this example is without peer.

The stamp itself is in true "Post Office fresh" condition, a visually stunning top margin example, with the most perfect centering we have ever seen ("mathematically perfect" doesn't do this stamp justice). The gum is flawless, and the perforations are perfect and uniform all around. And the "extra real estate" at top further adds to the appeal of this remarkable stamp. Superb, original gum, never hinged, is not an overstatement to be sure.

This connoisseur example absolutely demands placement in the finest of singles collections. Scott $135,000.

Price: $125,000; £98,000; €106,380; 1,250,000 SEK; HK$975,000.
